It's especially concerning if the car always needs a few tries when turning over.
Your car leaks any fluids
Used cars may need some tightening up and can have small leaks in them. Any leaks could be a sign of auto repair needs, and while not all of them are urgent, they are messy and a sign of potential future auto repair needs. Your brake, transmission, engine, air conditioning, power steering, and other fluids should not leak or leak very minimally, so take your used car purchase in for repairs if you notice any new leaks or have any leaks you knew about become larger.
Your car has no auto repair or maintenance history
Does your used car come with a blank slate regarding its history? If you have no record of the last oil change or other repair or maintenance need on your vehicle, take it to an auto mechanic to see if it has any auto repair needs.
